Mastery Based Credit Assessment Information: Class of 2023

Class of 2023 Students and Families,

The Mastery-Based Diploma Assessment Showcase will be held the week of May 16th during students’ U.S. History classes. The Mastery-Based Diploma Assessment is a graduation requirement put in place by the CT State Department of Education for the Class of 2023. To earn credit for the mastery-based diploma assessment, students must meet specified requirements and showcase a year’s worth of work that addresses one of the EHS Priority Learning Expectations. The priority learning expectation identified by Enfield High School to earn the credit is to be a Capable Communicator. Students will be evaluated on the EHS Capable Communicator Rubric by a committee of administrators and teachers. Students have been working throughout the course of the school year during Eagle Block mentor lessons and in their U.S. History classes to prepare for the Mastery-Based Diploma Assessment. Students will be required to create a three-minute presentation of their thesis and research from the U.S. History research paper. The presentation will be scored using the EHS Capable Communicator Rubric. Students must achieve a minimum of 10 out of 16 total points to receive the credit. In addition to the presentation, students are required to write a self-reflection of their work on the project.
